The aforementioned mouse lemur

3rd November

You may remember Steve Goodman, the lofty expert on all things Madagascar with whom it was my great privilege to talk at length in the plane on our way here. I said at the time that I hoped we would later see the mouse lemur named in his honour. Tonight, on reaching Andasibe, we did indeed see his mouse lemur. Prior to this we saw Ward’s flycatcher-vanga and Crossley’s dwarf lemur.

I have no idea who Ward and Crossley were but I’ve certainly never met either of them on a plane.

New today in Andasibe (or in the case of hamerkop, on the way here)
