I went for a run this morning, my first in months as last winter was a sad and listless time and for the past two months I've been in leopard and tiger country, where running is generally inadvisable. Along the riverbank blackcaps were singing (fruity, rich and happy, or so I'm told). I stopped to listen to each, persuading myself that my motivation was ornithological and had nothing to do with my screaming chest.
On the common willow warblers were in song. I stopped to listen to those too.
New this morning
